This album was released when I was in High School and while it wasn’t my style at the time I truly appreciated her voice. I became a fan later in her career and I, along with the rest of the world, mourned her untimely death. The album features her in a tank top over a splashy 80’s background. I used a few unique techniques in this piece. The background is created using 4 layers of grey wool thread in an abstract pattern. Whitney was created with over 40 layers of rayon thread stitched with very small stitches to blend the colors. I used a few appliqués in this piece as well. Her shirt, lips, and the side panel were all created with glitter fabric appliqué and then embellished with additional stitches.
